Jazmin Sentis lives between Ibiza and New York, where she studied for both her B.F.A. in Fine Arts and M.P.S. in Art Therapy at the School of Visual Arts (SVA). She gets inspiration from fashion magazines, folklore, movies, books, science, nature, other artists, and anything that moves from everyday life: Herself, people in the street, pop-culture, the media, and the news. Her themes are about political, social, environmental and psychological issues. She believes that protest against the injustices of the world is the most important motivation and subject for an artist. She tries as many different things as she can to see where that will take her. She does not want to have a signature style. She wants to appeal to as many different audiences as possible -- this reflects the different hues in herself. Moreover, she wants to encourage the viewers to think for themselves and question their political, religious, social, and moral beliefs -- she wants people to question the implicit. She’s interested in using iconography that is common in our culture and turning the meaning around, using art as a powerful tool to break down barriers. She wants to deconstruct and then reconstruct.
